Click here for an update on one of my projects, Project BridgeHop.
I'm also entering TIKIWOP, a flash game I made a couple weeks ago, into a contest. My good friend Alex is making some fancy art for it so I'm going back to give it a face lift. I guess my amazing photoshop skills isn't good enough. This is coming from the guy who drew a whale in the outer space portion of TIKIWOP. He did write me a completely unbiased review though.

I said a couple posts back that I would keep you up to date on current projects instead of just posting the final result. It should help catalogue the progression of my projects as well as making sure I don't disappear from the site only to reappear with something in hand. So here's a little intro into Project BridgeHop. Follow the link to read more and test out the prototype.
"I'm showing off a very rough draft of "Project BridgeHop", a little web game I've been designing and creating for the last couple of days. I'm making it with ActionScript 3.0 in Flex. I'm using ActionScript Physics Engine (APE) as the physics module..."
So here's TIKIWOP. Originally, "Project Tikiwop" was a series of ActionScript demos. Before those demos though, I created the typical "Hello World" projects in ActionScript like Pong, Menus, and other UI projects. After understanding the syntax and basic structure of the language, I moved onto studying the language specific fundamentals. Understanding how MovieClip works, how to utilize and manage other core ActionScript classes, and understanding how to solve complex problems within Flash was all part of this. "Project Tikiwop" was my test bed for all these demos. After getting my feet wet, I decided to create a Flash game. I wanted a game that would be original and fun but I also wanted it to be challenging, something that would teach me a lesson. And boy did I learn a lot. I then put it out on the web and got some good feedback. Based on the feedback, I applied some changes to the game. Overall the game taught me a lot and there will always be things I would like to change but I think I nailed what I was originally going for.
Hope you like it. If you have any suggestions or comments you know how to contact me.

Wow! It's been some time since my last update. To tell you the truth, I've made some updates to the site and I haven't been mentioning it here. My bad. It's about time I go over some of them.
First, I put up my objLoader project. It's a simple project that loads obj exported models. I restructured the games area. I no longer have a list of my games. I have a separate page for each game. Cleaner that way. Also, I've been working with ActionScript for a while now and I have a bunch of demos and a game I'm working on. Besides missing a couple art assets for the flash game, it's about finished and I'll put it up here soon.
I'll catalogue more of my demos in order to keep the site updated. It'll be nice to see and document the progression of a game as well. So stick around.

Since my graduation I've relocated back to Illinois. Now that I'm settled in I'll try to make more updates to the site. I've already gone ahead and made some changes to my resume page. I've added download links for Word 97-03, Word 07, and PDF versions of my resume. My About Me page is a little outdated already but that's all part of the fun when relocating. I have yet to really figure out what I'm all about up here, ha! So in time I'll post some more info and some of the projects I have laying around. Until then, take it easy.

Well I finally did it! I graduated from Full Sail University yesterday! The event was hosted at Hard Rock Universal where we graduated with other courses including Digital Arts/Media and Computer Animation. I received a course directors award for Computer Programming III and will be receiving my diploma later in the month (All diplomas are held till the end of the semester). It was a pleasure to meet all the course directors once again and to be able to chit chat with them before I move on. The last 21 months have been amazing....and tough. Simply put, if I had the chance to do it all over again, I would and I wouldn't change a thing. I'm looking forward to the next couple of months. Before I move on though, I would like to take the chance to say thanks to everyone who has helped me along the way. Friends, family, course directors, and the school are all included here. Thank you.
peace,
~Jared

I received complaints that the Games Page was loading pretty slow for those who are still living in the dark ages, otherwise known as 56k. I went ahead and moved the images into their own separate pages powered by SimpleViewer(Flash). This will help the page load faster as well as streamline how I add games to the site. The page will be less cluttered and have more room for games! I'm working on some other stuff and I'll be sure to keep you up to date.

For those of you with a keen eye, you may have noticed that I changed "Full Sail Real World Education" to "Full Sail University". The state finally got around to accrediting Full Sail as a University. This process has been going on long before I joined the program and luckily for me it goes into the books right now. Hopefully this doesn't cause any confusion. Full Sail University is Full Sail Real World Education. And no, this isn't an April Fools joke.

To your left you'll see the navigation bar. After learning a little bit about me and what I'm like, you can take a look at my past projects and games. Moving from this point forward, I'll be sure to keep you up to date as I'll be adding current projects, games, and other relevant information to the site. Any updates or changes I make to the site will be posted on the main page here. Make sure to check back often.
